Job Duties/Responsibilities:
- Coordinate subject enrollment in research study (30%)
- Coordinate consent process by subjects (20%)
- Provide imaging session supervision (20%)
- Provide direct supervision of subjects in research study including being the main contact for patients enrolled and for the PI (FN) (30%)

Qualifications

Required Qualifications:
• PhD Computer Science, Electrical and Computer Engineering, Biomedical Engineering, or a related field.
• Demonstrable experience in MR data analysis (e.g. Unix environment, programming in Matlab, Python, Bash, C/C++)
• Demonstrated ability to conduct collaborative research and to work on multiple projects
• Excellent communication skills

Preferred Qualifications:
• Experience with white matter microstructure mapping (e.g. NODDI, ActiveAx)
• Experience with brain networks (structural and/or functional) modeling and graph theory
• Experience/interest in the development and application of machine learning algorithm for neuroimaging data
• Experience in fMRI analysis (FSL, SPM)

About the Job

Responsibilities:
• Development of computational models and analysis methods for brain functional/structural connectivity and microstructure (25%)
• Development of computational models and analysis methods for spinal cord morphometry, and connectivity/microstructure (25%)
• Development of methods for lesion segmentation, and integration with connectivity information (25%)
• Data interpretation and preparation of manuscripts in collaboration with clinical and biostatistician team members (25%)

Opportunities at MSRC

We seek outstanding scientists interested in joining our team. Multiple sclerosis research at the University of Minnesota brings together experts of diverse backgrounds with specialties in neurology, radiology, oncology, engineering, and the cognitive neurosciences from all over the world. Access to the world-class imaging facilities at CMRR gives our team the resources to leverage their expertise in a multidisciplinary effort on a number of projects.

Potential roles and levels in the UMN MSRC range from student volunteers, junior scientists, clinical coordinators, and post-doctoral fellows. The interdisciplinary approach of our research means that students with backgrounds in many fields including, neuroscience, electrical and mechanical engineering, computer science, biology, and chemistry have the opportunity to conduct research in the Academic Health Center.  We are especially interested in hearing from you if you have engineering, programming, or experience working with the statistical analysis of large data sets.
